PEACH Statement on Governor Newsom’s 2021 Budget Proposal

Anne McLeod, President and CEO of Private Essential Access Community Hospitals (PEACH), offers the following response to Governor Newsom’s proposed 2021 budget:

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, California’s community safety net hospitals have played a vital role in combating the virus, particularly in areas where our state’s most vulnerable need equitable care. We’re encouraged by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 2021 state budget proposal as it prioritizes critical investments in health care as we continue to fight against COVID-19. This proposal directs resources to improve health equity in the Medi-Cal program through innovative approaches aligned with the Cal-AIM framework. We look forward to working with the Governor and the legislature in the coming months to ensure California’s community safety net hospitals are able to continue delivering the highest quality care to our state’s most vulnerable. Together we will overcome this pandemic and move California toward a brighter health care future.”
